Deputy Chancellor of the Los Angeles Community College District
Dr. Barrera is a long time community college leader in Southern California and in Texas. She has overseen most of the LACCD’s headquarters operations, while assisting the Chancellor in a variety of areas. Before becoming deputy chancellor, Dr. Barrera was president of Los Angeles Mission College, an LACCD college in the San Fernando Valley. Under her leadership, the number of Mission College students transferring to four-year universities, and the number of degrees and diplomas, rose 25 percent. Dr. Barrera has also served as president of El Paso Community College.
